Parental Leave - Take 2!!
Well... I've been on official parental leave now for 2 days and a bit! And boy has it been busy!!
Here's a quick recap:
1. Last friday we packed up the ol'front wheel drive sleigh and headed to Mom and Dad Fessenden's just narrowly beating a snow storm.
2. Saturday we headed to Brampton to the Mandarin for the Fessenden Christmas Party. It was quick but the kids were good. Kathryn slept most of the time and Patrick WANTED to sleep. He was so cute trying to curl into my arms while I was scarfing a pizza topped with ribs and chicken balls.... hehehe. Unfortunatley, we also spent 6 hours in emerg with Kathryn because we were worried she was getting RSV but it turned out to be just a head cold. Thank Goodness!
3. Sunday we had the meet'n'greet for Kathryn. I figure there was just over 20 people showed up... probably more though. Everyone got a chance to hold Kathryn since she slept the whole time. No screaming. Patrick had a blast playing with the other kids. We then headed over to my sibling-in-laws for a birthday party for both Deb and I. It was quick since both the kids were tired and we were both exhausted but it was still great. My sister-in-law can cook a mean lasagna!
4. Monday we stopped at Futureshop so I could pick up season 6 of married with children, then headed home. The van was just a tad on the full side with all the gifts we recieved! Once again, we just narrowly missed a snowstorm but when we got home, there was 2 feet of snow in our drive. In the process of blowing it out, i turned a pack of flyers into confetti! I was not amused.
5. Tuesday was a busy day. I brought Patrick to Play school for the morning then headed out to get more gas, get a new humidifier for Kathryn's room (which ended up in our room and giving her ours), cleaning out the drive again, doing some shopping, etc. Then picking up Patrick. There was probably more but I have to wrap this up. The natives are getting restless.
Talk at ya later!

It's been awhile...
I figured it was time to add to my blog since it's been so long. Well... not really that long. Only a week. Time does seem like it is flying by though. It seems as if i've been on the go non stop! Work is crazy busy as I've joined a commissioning team for the new dry storage project and somehow I seemed to have picked up all the administrative duties as well as all my usual work. It can be reallllllllly frustrating to spend most of your day trying to get something as simple as a lock change or new phone put in... and STILL not get it done! Oh well.. I've only got 1 week left to go then i'm off for 7 weeks on parental leave. I think the hardest thing about it all is the getting up at 5:30 to be at work for 7. It means I have to go to bed earlier in the evening so I don't get to spend a whole lot of time with Deb, Kathryn and my in-laws. Basically when I get home I spend most of my time with Patrick. I know Deb doesn't have much time with him and even though he has his grandparents all day, I'd like him to have at least a solid few hours with one of his parents. The big drawback with that is I don't spend much time with anyone else. He's worth it though! When I come home and he starts yelling "Da-Dee", it just makes my day no matter how bad it had been.
I am a little concerned about my bonding time with Kathryn though since i've only really spent a couple hours with her this week. Granted she does sleep most of the time i'm home and when she isn't sleeping, she's eating so that's Debs' bonding time. I guess i'm a little sad we aren't formula feeding this one too since it gives me a chance to both bond and give Deb a break. But Deb is so happy that she is able to breast feed and I don't want to take that away (Not that she would let me!!). Kathryn is now gaining weight so she must be getting the good stuff now anyways. It will just be nice when we have a bit more of an established schedule but I know from experience that no schedule will last for very long. Oh Well.
Anyways... I'm going to go make myself a cup of tea. Cheerio Peoples

It's My Birthday...
I'm the big old 28 years of age... yup... that's about it.
I've never been too big on the whole birthday thing and the weather really isn't perking me up any either. I also had a nap today which kinda screwed me over because i'm ALWAYS more tired when I wake up from them. Go figure.
However! I did receive a few cool birthday gifts! Deb got me a model hotel from my train set that I think will look perfect when I actually get going on it! I'll have to practice on some other models to get good before I tackle it since I don't want to screw it up. She also got me a 1000 piece simpsons puzzle which looks super cool and when I'm done... may have to be placed in our living room :) Mom and Dad are getting me a wheel barrow of my choice when Mom starts feeling well. They are ALWAYS good for those practical gifts that you never think of! And Mom and Dad Fessenden got me a stool for my train room which I had been wanting. All in all... I got spoiled :) Now I just wish the weather would be a bit nicer...
Anywho.... supper time. Soup and Sandwiches.

Happy New Year!
Well 2006 has come and gone. It was a good year for us McLarens on the whole but nothing too monumental occured. My Papa Mac (Orville McLaren) passed away in January which was pretty sad but other then that, nothing big happened (I'm not counting Deb getting preggerz).
2007 is shaping up to be an electric year though! And I mean that literally. I singed some hair off this morning while trying to replace an outlet in our kitchen with a GFI outlet. What kind of builder puts 2 hot wires on 2 different breakers to one outlet?!??!?!?!? Yeesh!
I went up on the roof as well today and took down the christmas lights. I figured it was clear enough and we still don't have snow so what the hell? Well... that and Deb told me to take them down... The good news is I didn't fall off the roof this time which is always a bonus! Even though the ground is kinda soft with the rain we've been having, it still hurts when it rushes up at you like that and my body just doesn't bounce back the way it used to.
Anyways, I should get going. We just put Patrick down for the night and are about to start watching season 9 of Stargate-SG1. Even though I'm a big Ben Browder & Claudia Black Fan... they just can't compete with Richard Dean Anderson (Or Rick as he likes me to call him... yes... we're THAT close).
Hope everyone has a great 2007! I probably won't be back on till friday night when I post some pictures of Kathryn :)
Peace Everyone!
